The hill walking in Kintail is reknowned and favourite routes include the Falls of Glomach, - among the highest in Britain, the Five Sisters, the Saddle and many others. There are also plenty of more gentle walks for the less energetically inclined! Eilean Donan Castle is naturally, extremely popular and there are Pictish brochs at Glenelg, woodland gardens at Balmacara and the beautiful village of Plockton all within a few minutes drive.
Boat trips are available in Kyle and Plockton.
Fishing both fresh and saltwater can easily be arranged.
There are nine-hole golf courses at Lochcarron and Kyle, and an indoor swimming pool can be found in Kyle. A number of local firms offer mountain bikes for hire, and pony-trekking can be enjoyed in nearby Ardelve.
There are beautiful beaches at Sandaig and Glenelg—swimming recommended only for the young or brave!
Further afield, the Isle of Skye has a host of visitor attractions, ranging from the “Serpentarium” in Broadford, to the more traditional such as Dunvegan Castle and the Clan Donald Centre near Armadale.
A huge range of arts and crafts are practised locally,
and many are on display in local galleries in Dornie, Glenelg, and Plockton.
